Senior Programme Manager

Role purpose

WHEN is seeking an exceptional individual to manage the delivery and growth of exciting programmes that will propel gender equality for the higher education sector. The candidate will be a confident, entrepreneurial, self-starter with the experience of designing and managing people development programmes. They will be a big picture thinker, not intimidated by pace or scale and well organised with an eye for detail. Responsibilities

Reporting to WHEN’s COO, you will lead on and oversee a series of new and growing programmes including; the 100 Black Female Professors NOW programme, the Career Accelerator programme and overseeing the Senior Women of Colour network.  You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the programmes are impactful, delivered to budget, on time and to a high quality. You will also take the lead role in managing the annual programme of events including the conference. You work in collaboration with the WHEN team including external coaches, consultants and advisors.

Programme management

End to end programme management responsibility including planning, preparation, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement of programmes and specifically:
- Budget management ensuring effective management and value for money
- Communications (videos, website, materials)
- On-site and virtual management of programme delivery
- Managing all meetings and other programme activities
- Proactively managing risks
- Managing the appointment, contracting and engagement of programme faculty
- Contracting and onboarding of new universities

Programme development
Ensure external facing programme materials are up to date and accurate. Produce promotional materials to support with client acquisition. Work with the Head of Development to follow up with programme enquiries and provide interested Universities with the information they need about programmes.

Programme scaling
As the programme commitments grow, bring strategic thinking to enable the growth of a programme management team within WHEN, a group of professionals who can together support the delivery of all programmes and activities.

Events
Overseeing the annual programme of member events including the annual conference.

Line management
Supporting the growth and development of other team members. Initially responsible for one other team member but with expectation that a programme management team will build quickly.

Travel
The 100BWPN programme will include travel and when needed overnight stays circa 15 days of in-person delivery across the UK from Feb 2022 – Feb 2023 at locations including Leeds, Manchester, London, Exeter and Norwich. (excluding potential site visits and set-up days). This role may also be required to travel and stay overnight to support the 2 day Accelerator Programmes as they arise. As a minimum, the membership event activity will include travel and overnight stay for one day of in-person activity likely in Oxford area in June 2023

7. Written communication, able to produce compelling documents (Essential)
8. Ability to travel and be present for overnight stays across the UK (Essential)
9. Ability to hit the ground running with limited supervision (Essential)
10. Experience of working in a start-up environment and/or higher education sector (Desirable)
11. Line management (Desirable)
12. Conference management (Desirable)
